KFC is trashing critical Sumatran tiger habitat with its throw-away packaging! But KFC can stop this by dumping rainforest destroyer APP from its supply chain.

That’s John Watson, Chevron CEO, offering an absurd excuse I came up with for him to explain why his company consistently puts profits ahead of people and planet.
An $18 billion judgment against Chevron was upheld by an appeals court in Ecuador yesterday. Chevron’s guilt in Ecuador is so blatant, it’s no wonder the company’s excuses for its refusal to take responsibility have become increasingly absurd. So far, Chevron spokespeople have claimed everything from “Oil isn’t toxic” to “Just because we bought Texaco in 2001 doesn’t mean we have to clean up its mess” to “I have make-up on and there’s naturally occurring oil on my face, that doesn’t mean I’m going to get sick.” Seriously. That’s how callous these people are, and how stupid they think we are.
It’s obvious Chevron’s spokespeople can’t possibly justify their refusal to clean up Ecuador. So I created a little meme generator-type tool so that we can all suggest absurd new talking points for them. Go here if you want to help Chevron out with a new excuse.

Tell the President of Brazil to Veto the New Forest Code Before It’s Too Late
Our planet’s largest remaining rainforest is under threat from changes to the laws that govern forest protection in Brazil. The new Forest Code bill being proposed severely weakens protections for the Amazon rainforest and opens up vast areas to destruction, which would contribute to accelerating climate change.
But there is still time. Right now Brazilian President Dilma can save the Amazon rainforest from destruction by vetoing this new Forest Code bill. You can send her a message now.

In the last 5 days, more than 50,000 people have sent a message to Walmart, Target, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Safeway and Costco, urging the US retail giants to not sell rainforest destruction.
At issue is the Indonesian-based company Asia Pulp and Paper that has been destroying pristine Indonesian rainforests, the home of the endangered Sumatran tiger, to produce throw-away paper tissue products.
Here in the US, Asia Pulp and Paper is pushing its Paseo-brand of tissue products on to the shelves of major retailers. Greenpeace, along with more than 50,000 members and concerned citizens, are asking US retailers to not sell Paseo tissue products and help save the last 400 remaining Sumatran tigers in the world whose habitat is being destroyed.

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) has been driving Indonesian rainforest destruction at an alarming rate to make throw-away tissue products.
This deforestation is not only polluting our climate, but also pushing wildlife like the Sumatran tiger towards extinction. With only 400 Sumatran tigers left in the wild, every bit of its dwindling forest habitat matters.
Here in the U.S., APP is pushing its “Paseo” brand tissue products onto store shelves across the country. To do so, they are counting on people in the dark about the dirty secret behind their tissue products. But you can help us change that.
Take action and tell major U.S. retailers like Walmart and Kmart: “don’t sell rainforest destruction – don’t sell Paseo tissue products!”

Since 2008, the Lacey Act has helped protect forests and endangered species from illegal logging and habitat destruction, and now it’s under attack from powerful deregulation lobbyists. We need to act now and let Congress know that we care about forests and the diverse species that inhabit them. Tell your member of Congress to support the Lacey Act today - before it’s too late.
